FOX IV's Coil Marking Systems were born out of real-world needs in the steel industry to quickly and efficiently trace material lots and track inventory. Oil and dust on the surface of the steel can prevent application of a label directly onto the coil. FOX IV developed a system to apply labels directly to a 1/2-inch steel band that secures the coil and to the coil core.

Because steel coils vary in diameter, the securing band is never in the same location on the coil. FOX IV's 3-axis cylinder locates and applies the label to the band every time. It is also capable of applying barcode labels to the inner core of the coil in two locations.

The labeling system operates around the clock in a steel mill environment where heat and dust can easily damage electronics and machinery. Additionally the system can be integrated into an existing control network for data interchange and Input/Output signals.

Additionally, FOX IV provides custom labels that can withstand the rigors of a steel-manufacturing environment. The entire system is enclosed in an environmentally controlled walk-in enclosure complete with lighting, power and built-in software/network control interfaces.

FOX IV engineers can tackle additional challenges to provide any manufacturer with a turnkey system to provide automated lot traceability.
