All post-printing inspection systems are by no means created equal.
Unlike standard loose-loop inspection systems, FOX IV's linear system immediately detects both continuous and random printing defects. A single, high-speed line scanner checks each label on the web with a precise laser beam.
Automated loop systems, meanwhile, utilize a sensor to follow a grid pattern and take a small sample of each label being printed. All labels are tested but not the entire label surface is tested. In the example to the right, the label is broken into 24 segments. The entire label is scanned only after 24 labels pass - one segment for each label.
The critical drawback of this system is that it will not detect random printing errors.
