Setting Air Pressure on FOX IV Pneumatic Labeling Systems
Setting Air Pressures on FOX IV labeling equipment correctly is important to ensure equipment reliabilty and longevity.
How to Set Air Pressure
Cylinder Pressure - The first step is to verify that the main air supplied to the FOX IV Applicator can produce 80-100 PSI at 3-5 CFM and then connect the FOX IV filter regulator system to the machine. After this is completed, turn the regulator knob clockwise until the gauge reads 80 PSI. Next, set the pressure regulator on the FOX IV control panel to 20-40 PSI.
Vacuum Pressure –The vacuum pressure is set by turning the vacuum regulator clockwise on the control panel, with a label on the applicator pad, while reading the vacuum gauge. A typical setting is between 10-15 Hg.
Air-Jet Pressure - The air-jet pressure is set by turning the air-jet regulator on the FOX IV control panel clockwise at one-turn increments while feeding the label onto the applicator pad. NOTE: Stop the adjustment when the label slides smoothly across the applicator pad.
Why Correct AIr Pressure Is Important
Cylinder Pressure - This is set depending on the speed of application and the pressure needed to securely adhere the label to the product surface. The pressure can be set above the 40 PSI setting depending on the size of the air cylinder length and bore, as well as the speed and force needed for the application.
Vacuum Pressure – The correct vacuum pressure will ensure that the label advances smoothly onto the pad and is held securely until the label is applied.
Air-Jet Pressure – The correct air-jet pressure ensures a smooth label transition from the print area onto the applicator pad while releasing the label from the backing material.
